This pendant is made with silver I recycled in-studio. With the texture of the raw edges still maintained, this circular charm was then engraved with the olive leaves motif seen on the perimeter of the keffiyeh, representing Palestinians’ deep connection to our olive trees. Aside from the economic role of Palestinian olive, the average tree lives between 300-600 years and have been raised by generations of families, which is an apt representation of our attachment to the land. The hand-engravings are then oxidized, and combined with a satin finish for the highest contrast.
